Getting Organized - Part II
Part I
In Part 1, I concentrated on the home’s basement and first floor, which are key areas in every home. I also described how to find some new spaces in the home. Now let’s take a look at the second floor, bedroom, and where appropriate, the attic. Here are a few ways to organize within these spaces.
Bedroom Organization If you’re like most people, you have sets of comforters, quilts, sheets, and a few extra pillows. Besides placing these items in a spacious linen closet, consider plastic bins. Compress those items, place them inside these cool bins, and then slide them out of sight under your bed (you can even by a device that compresses linens for you when they are placed within a special plastic bag).

Of course, good, old fashioned dresser drawers can be used for storage. Organize these drawers purchasing or making plastic separators for socks, under garments, and even pieces of jewelry. Roll those socks into balls and those tee shirts into tubes, which take up less space. You can also increase a drawer’s useable space by adding a sliding tray. Make the tray's one-half the size of the drawer’s width or depth so that you can slide it and gain full access to the drawer bottom. |
